Have to say I've had this open in my browser for days. It was completely fascinating - first of all the actual performance of it, but then the idea of the Pentatonic scale as universal. It prompted me to look up more information about it, and I found that the Pentatonic scale is widely used in the musical traditions of many cultures, including Chinese, Irish, Hungarian, Celtic and West African, among many others.
