Brooklyn Home

The photos above are from my favorite home ever featured on The Selby. It is such a fantastic marriage of clean, modern design that still pays homage to classic details. I simply love it. It is the home of Fitzhugh Carol and Lyndsay Caleo, both of whom do incredible work. If you missed this one, go take a peek; there is a lot more to see.

Terrain Landscapes

The days have gotten longer and we're spending more and more time outdoors, both at home and in public spaces. It's easy to see when you are outdoors more often how the architecture of the landscape plays an important role in your mood. Well-designed landscapes can make you feel at ease no matter how busy the world around is. This weekend, I clicked on a link from twitter (thanks Sally!) and found a truly inspirational landscape architecture firm, Terrain. Their modern, sustainable designs have transformed everything from rooftop gardens to entire regions. I had such fun browsing through and reading about their projects and know you will too. Enjoy!

Urban Sanctuary

This small 840 square foot cottage in San Francisco is such a great example of what one can do in a small space.  The cottage was designed by Boor Bridges Architecture, whose goal is to "artfully manipulate the relationship between people and their circumstance."

My favorite details in this remodel are definitely the outdoor concrete soaking tub and central fireplace which was finished with re-claimed douglas fir.

P.S. - These are the same architects who designed Flora Grubb Gardens in San Francisco; it is at the top of my list of places to visit this year.

Old Dairy On Holiday

Growing up, we had family friends who owned a dairy, and while I have fond memories of jumping off bales of hay into piles of cotton in their barn, I must admit I never longed to live on a dairy.  This incredible home by Thomas de Cruz architects & designers, however, has made me rethink my position.  Their website says, "...we strive to blur the boundaries between being on holiday and being at home."  With large open expanses of windows, sliding doors, canopies, and a gorgeous outdoor space, I think they have achieved their goal with this home.

Modern Barn

After I posted about the Modern Country home I found last week, I was reminded of this home in Inverness by architect Gustave Carlson.  It has those same pitched and beamed ceilings, yet also feels entirely modern: a gorgeous space.

Modern Country

I love the simple mix of modern and country in this Healdsburg home by Nick Noyes Architecture.
