Keepsake Pillow
Thursday, January 14, 2010 at 12:59AM Favorite tee-shirts are always hard to get rid of, and often we end up saving them in the backs of drawers. The shirt below was my daughter's and she wore it until it was too small to fit over her head anymore, but I could never get rid of it. I found it recently when I was going through some things and decided to make it into a keepsake pillow that she could still enjoy.

It's really quite simple to make a tee-shirt into a pillow:
- First, find one.
- Then, cut the shirt into two squares. When you're finished you should have a front and back for your pillow.
- Next, put the right sides together and pin the pieces. You will then either hand-stitch or machine-stitch around the edges of the pillow, leaving a small opening on one side. (this will be the trickiest bit, as it can try your patience a little to sew stretchy tee-shirt material; take your time and it should be OK)
- Turn the pillow right side out, and stuff it with polyfill or cotton.
- Finally, use a simple stitch to close the pillow
My favorite part was leaving the pillow on my daughter's bed and hearing squeals of delight when she saw it. If you can't sew, you can probably find someone who can!
